- This is the only accessible translation of Rickshaw Boy currently available. The first English translation of Rickshaw Boy was published in 1945 and chosen as a Book-of-the-Month selection. That translation is no longer in print. There are currently two translations in print; they are both published by university presses: University of Hawaii Press (ISBN: 9780824806552) and Chinese University in Hong Kong.
- This is the third classic Chinese novel to be translated into English as part of Harper’s new initiative in China in conjunction with the People’s Literature Publishing House, after Border Town and The Ancient Ship.
